Course Highlights:
Duration: 5 days (varies by instructor and location)
Objective: To introduce students to the basics of paragliding, helping them become familiar with equipment, ground handling, and the principles of flight.
Practical Sessions:
Introduction to the glider, harness, and safety equipment.
Basic ground handling skills, such as inflating the glider and controlling it on the ground.
Short, low-altitude flights (supervised) to get a feel for take-offs, flights, and landings.
Theory Classes:
Understanding wind conditions, weather, and basic aerodynamics.
Safety measures and emergency procedures.
Introduction to the APPI certification system.
Skills Covered:
Safe preparation for flights.
Controlling the wing on the ground.
Awareness of weather conditions and flying site safety.
Basic techniques for launching, flying, and landing under instructor supervision.
At the end of the course, participants usually receive APPI certification (APPI Discover) which certifies that they have acquired basic paragliding skills and knowledge. After completing this course, students can progress to the P2 Adventure Pilot course for more advanced training.
Level 2 - APPI 2 Explore
The P2 - APPI 2 Explore Course is designed for pilots who have completed the P1 level and are ready to advance their paragliding skills toward becoming independent pilots. This course focuses on building confidence, improving techniques, and introducing students to more advanced flying skills, including longer flights and better wing control.
Course Highlights:
Duration: 7 days (or more, depending on the location and weather)
Objective: To help pilots become independent with take-offs, flying, and landings, while also focusing on improving their control of the glider in various conditions.
Practical Sessions:
Independent take-off and landing: Students practice mastering launches and landings with minimal instructor input.
Reverse launch techniques: Essential for handling the wing in stronger winds and more challenging conditions.
Longer duration flights: Emphasis on staying in the air for longer periods, allowing students to practice control during extended flights.
Maneuvers and safety skills: Including coordinated turns, weight-shifting, speed control, and active piloting.
Practice in thermals: Learning how to identify and use thermals to extend flight time and gain altitude.
Theory Classes:
Deeper theoretical understanding of paragliding, including meteorology, aerodynamics, and flight planning.
Introduction to flight instruments and their use during navigation.
Safety and emergency procedures, including what to do in adverse conditions.
Skills Covered:
Consistently smooth take-offs and landings.
Confident reverse launch techniques.
Understanding and utilizing thermals for longer flights.
Introduction to basic cross-country flying.
Familiarity with weather conditions and flight planning.
A significant reduction in instructor guidance as the student becomes more independent.
Certification:
Upon successful completion, students are awarded the APPI 2 Explore certification, which allows them to fly at various sites globally under suitable conditions. It also certifies that they are prepared for the next stages of paragliding development, such as APPI 3.
This course is designed for those who want to push their paragliding abilities beyond basic flights, giving them the knowledge and confidence to start exploring the skies more independently. At Kamshet Adventures, this course is offered with personalized guidance and real-time weather evaluation to ensure safe learning.
Level 3 - APPI 3 Independent Pilot
The P3 - APPI 3 Independent Pilot Course is the next step for pilots who have completed the P2 Explore level and are ready to achieve full independence in paragliding. This course focuses on refining flying techniques, mastering thermalling, and preparing pilots for solo cross-country (XC) flights. The goal is to build the skills and confidence required to fly independently without the need for instructor supervision.
Course Highlights:
Duration: Typically 12 days, depending on location, weather conditions, and student progress.
Objective: To transition pilots into fully independent fliers, capable of planning, executing, and completing solo flights safely across various terrains and conditions.
Practical Sessions:
Advanced thermalling techniques: Learning to maximize thermals for long-duration and higher-altitude flights.
Cross-country flying: Introducing navigation, flight planning, and route selection for XC flights.
Advanced maneuvers: Refining skills like wingovers, spiral dives, and asymmetric collapses for improved control and safety.
Emergency situations: Practical training on how to handle in-flight emergencies like wing collapses, stalls, and turbulence.
Self-assessment: Learning to evaluate one’s own flying conditions, limitations, and readiness before each flight.
Theory Classes:
